03) What's included in the rar-files?

The rar-files contain the packages you need to install to view my components. Moreover, a readme-file is frequently part of the rar-files. As these ar all written in German, here a short English version:
You´ll need to install CEP in order for some objects to appear correctly in your game (for further information: go here
).

You are allowed to:
- make any private use of the files.
- put them on your site as the original rar-file for download. You may add your own read-me and you´ll have to link to my site.
- modify the textures as long as you give credit to me (Rado) by a textlink to my site.

You are not allowed to:
- take money for my downloads. They have to be for free.

04) How I get the files out of the rar-file?

You need a programm like WinRar (at this link you can get a German testversion for free but it has a timelimit) or another one that can unzip rar-files. By right-clicking on the rar-file you should be able to extract its contents.
WinZIP isn't able to open rar-files!

05) Where to place the files?

New game, new rules ;)
There are two known formats for me. Because I've got only Windows XP I can only tell about it.

The first format ends with .sims2skins and can simply be installed by a doubleclick when you have installed the starterkit, too. I can´t tell you what to do without as I´ve worked with the starter kit since the beginning.
There is a second version of this format when you've installed The Sims 2. This is .sims2pack. It seems not to be compatible with the older Body Shop (CAS) Version (Sims2 installs a newer version). The installation works like the first one.

The other format ends with .package. You have to put the files in the folder "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Bodyshop\Downloads" (simply copy them there) or after installing The Sims 2 in "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads".

06) Am I allowed to offer/ make changes to the downloads?

It's said in the readme-file. Go to 03) for this

07) My question wasn't here. What can I do?

If the question is about my site send an email to me (rado2@drash.de). I'll try to answer as fast as I can.

If the question is not really about my site (but belongs to Sims2) you can also mail/ write to me. Provided that I know the answer, I´ll assist you.

08) Who is responsible for the content of the downloads?

For all downloads: You use them at your own risk. They were tested for errors and bad programs (virus) before they were uploaded to this site.
If there are errors please report them to
rado2@drash.de or the creator of the file.

09) [Why this site only in German this time?]

[That time is gone. So no answer here.]

10) What is the meaning of the 4 textlines under the downloads?

Name: The name of the file
Creator: The name of the creator
Category : Shows the place in game where to find (only Components) more about at 11)
Size: The size of the rar-file in KiloByte

11) What's the meaning of the shortcuts at the downloads?

The shortcuts have following codes:

gender - age

The category-pictures are followed by some white letters designed to give you some further info about where to look for your new components. Note that there is only shown a category for components, because Skins are whole characters and will appear in the Skin-menu of your bodyshop (or CAS). There will be no letters where not necessary.

Gender: man/ woman
Alter: Kk (toddler)/ K (child) / Teenager/ E (adult) / Ä (Elder)
The shortcuts are derived from the German words.

12) How I recolour objects?

As I didn´t create the tutorials myself I´ll only link to pages which helped me doing it. Have some fun by doing it on your own.
P.S.: I couldn't give support for most questions. Please ask the site-owners.

You can get the required software for free here (there are also some links to English tutorials): http://sims.ambertation.de/download.shtml

You´ll find a great and long tutorial at modthesims2.com. It is from Pinhead. The link leads to the thread. At the bottom of the first post you'll find the tutorial for download. The two last files are a German translation made by me ;-): http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=32696

13) Why can´t I see the objects in game?

This will probably be because you´ve not installed the CEP (read more about >here<).

14) How to play the game for example with or without downloads?

For example if you have many downloads and you only want to open the game for making a screenshot there is the question whether it is easier to take all downloads out and only hold the needed.
The easiest way is to let the game create a new game-folder. In order to do this rename the folder "The Sims 2" (My Documents/EA Games/) for example "The Sims22" and start the game.
Because the game couldn't find the data of course it creates a new gamefolder from it's own backup-copy and so you get a gamefolder clean as at the first install of the game.
Exit the game and place all files you need to the fresh folder and a fast loading screenshot-game (for example) is ready to start.
In order to get back your "big old" game you only have to rename the old one "The Sims 2" and give another name to the fresh before.

15) How I can rename the folders from 14) more comfortable?

For this I've wrote the S2-Change.bat. After a short configuration you could change the foldernames with a simple doubleclick to the .bat-file. The instruction is only in German but I think it isn't really hard to understand how it works.
